WIMBLEDON AT DEMITASSE
ALTERNATIVE WIMBLEDON AFTERNOON TEA
Now that the tennis season is upon us again, Demitasse will be offering something different to the usual Wimbledon afternoon tea. Not only do we have a variety of fine teas as well as our full range of speciality coffees to choose from, but there is also some rather delicious cakes, pastries, and desserts to sample at our beautiful coffee shop in Wimbledon.
With the Wimbledon Championships coming up, our Tennis Ball dessert is the perfect treat for all tennis lovers who fancy an alternative to a Wimbledon afternoon tea. This is a strawberry confit surrounded by whipped cream and covered in a sphere of white chocolate with a soft lemon yellow coating that gives it the appearance of a real tennis ball. Set on a small, delicate cookie, this is one of those truly special desserts that has to be seen to be believed! We’re hoping that frequent visitor Andy Murray may pop in again to have a taste. We noticed that he’d posted something of interest to us on Instagram saying, “After years of being miserable and incapable of smiling I wish I’d known that all I needed was a coffee”. And that was before he’d sampled our very special speciality coffee!

STRAWBERRIES & CREAM
There are other great desserts that Demitasse will be serving if you fancy a change from the traditional strawberries and cream. We’ll be serving a Demitasse Mess – layers of strawberry confit separated by whipped cream which is served in a glass and topped with fresh strawberries. And then there’s our Medovik Honey Cake with its thin airy layers of cream and sponge with the summery taste of honey.
Wimbledon 2022 takes place from Mon the 27th June until Sunday the 10th of June. TV presenter and former tennis star Daniela Hantuchová will be covering the event in her ‘Best Of Three’ show on the Tennis Channel. She too just happens to be a fan of the fantastic speciality coffee that Demitasse has become renowned for since opening earlier in the year. Positioned on the High Street in Wimbledon village, Demitasse is only a short walk (or 3 minute drive) from the courts at Wimbledon where another coffee loving tennis champion is set to play for what could be her final year. Serena Williams likes her coffee so much that she once ordered a double espresso half way through a match!

MORE TO ENJOY
As one tennis great gets ready to bow out we look forward to seeing the stars of the future. The second week will see the 14&U Junior Championships staged for the first time. 2022 is also the first year that The Championships will run over 14 days, with play taking place on the middle Sunday which will spread the fourth round singles matches over two days. So, there will be even more world-class tennis to enjoy on the courts this year.
If you fancy a break from the action, why not pop in for one of our great desserts accompanied by a fantastic cup of speciality coffee or a pot of fine tea. And if Demitasse’s alternative to afternoon tea in Wimbledon isn’t your thing, what about one of our delicious breakfasts or a tasty brunch before heading up the road to watch The Championships.
